A Family History

The Hotel Punta Scario opened in Salina, Aeolian Islands, during August 1975, second hotel in the island and first building built as an hotel, when Camillo, a sea captain of the island of Lussino (now Losinj in Croatia) and his wife Maria Andreina, from Trieste and Marici for friends, decided to transform two small local houses into a small hotel on the cliff overolooking the bay of Malfa, above the Scario beach.
A small adventure concluded in 1975 after 4 years of works. At the beginning there was still no road for cars arriving to the Punta.
Until 1994 Camillo, Marici together with their four children have welcomed, in an informal and familiar atmosphere, the guest of the Hotel Punta Scario.
In 2004 Marici decides to return to Salina, in the Aeolian islands, and the owning family actions a modernisation plan, starting a significant restructuring of the hotel.
Anna, the youngest doughter of Camillo and Marici, after having studied statistics and having worked on foreign countries, decides in 2006 to leave the work at a bank in Switzelrnad and she too is dedicated to the hotel, being the director since 2007. Also his brother Giovanni working abroad in the shipping sector, is involved (by distance) in helping out to secure improvements.
